How do you go back?

How do you prevent all that's happening at Mumbai right now? I for one have no answer. Not yet anyway. For now I just feel numb.

After over a hundred people have died, security officers killed and India held at gunpoint...

How does one go back to work to sell soaps or deodorants that make such little difference to the nation and our collective future?

  1. I agree .. how do we get back. A client actually had the nerve to call me and check if there was any work being done on his creatives... I wish I could have slammed the phone on him

  2. @ kapil: you know more than anything else, stuff like this just convinces me more and more that our lives need to spent doing something for the country and not selling stuff nobody needs :|

  3. @kapil & sonal: absolutely right. there has to be something more meaningful to life than advertising. since not all of us can find careers that help fulfil the 'satisfied-at-the-of-the-day' need, we need to do something besides work. day by day, i get convinced that work is the means to an end, and not the end itself. start small, tiny bits of kindness and concern for the country and its people.

and you know, not all advertising is bad. lead india got a sleeping giant out of its apathy. tata tea, with its jaago re campaign is slowly spreading awareness. perhaps we should try and give some social message / angle to the next campaign we bring out. what say sonal?
